The NYS Bus Distributors Association successfully lobbied for additional Funding for the State Education Department (SED) for the state’s zero-emission school bus transition. The 2024-25 state budget provides new funding for SED to hire staff (engineers, policy experts, admin., etc.) to make their facilities and infrastructure approval process more streamlined for and efficient for school districts.
The Association joined forces with the NY Association for Pupil Transportation in working with SED and the Governor’s office to identify the need for more staff at SED to help with the increase in facilities and infrastructure approval requests from school districts due to the state’s new zero-emission school bus mandate.
